I Want To Make An Osaka Hotel Booking at Osaka Castle!

Just 10 minutes by train from Umeda Osaka, Japan, Osaka Castle (Osakajo) should be made into a hotel. I mean, when you think of Hotels in Osaka you might imagine business or capsule forms of accommodation but what about "Osaka Hotel Castle." It has a great view of Umeda, the business district and is surrounded by water and Osakajo Park.

It even has an elevator and wheel chair access to its Observation Deck which provides nice views of the surrounding area. What more could you want?

But seriously, Osaka Castle, one of the most famous Japan tourist attractions, is practically a virtual castle as it is. Having been reconstructed in the early 1930`s and made from ferro-concrete, it`s not exactly Japanese Architecture at its finest (that honor would probably go to Himeji Castle). One of the interesting facts about Japan that you may not know is that it actually survived World War 2, unlike many other more ancient Japanese castles.

However, like most, the interior has been transformed into a modern museum. It depicts some of the most important events in the history of Japan which include the history of the castle and the life of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who first built the castle in 1583 (among other things like, oh, unifying Japan!)

Actually if you enjoy some good Japanese historical fiction I highly recommend the book "Taiko" by Eiji Yoshikawa. It`s all about the life of Hideyoshi and is one of my favorite books, second only to "Musashi" also by Yoshikawa. "Taiko" starts off a little slow but once you get into it, you won`t want to put it down. So anyway, if your Japan vacations take you to Osaka, is it worth visiting Osakajo?

As long as the weather is half decent, then yes, go for it. One cool thing is that entry into the grounds themselves is free, you only have to pay to go inside the museum.
Above^ A small shrine tucked away amongst the trees. I will leave it up to you to find where.
